Out with the old

So I hope everyone had a good memorial weekend. I ended up having a bit of a full weekend and didn't really get everything done. I was dreading having to come back to work today because of what happened last friday, but I am here and if I don't have the leave my office I should be okay. Some of the grades are leaving this afternoon, so I should have a relatively quiet afternoon.

As for the weekend, Sunday afternoon my brother and I went to go see Night at the Museum 2 and it didn't live up to what I had thought. I like the first one better. This one was too much of slap-stick style comedy and some parts didn't really make sense. I despised some of the newer characters because they just didn't seem real and give me a break with the monkey subtitles. Yep, they gave the monkeys subtitles when they are talking. There were a few scenes that were in the trailer that didn't make it to the theatrical version and the Vader and Oscar the Grouch parts were really really short.

Then yesterday (monday) the Hubby and I went to go see Angels and Demons. This one was much better. It lived up to the hype (I think). It was filmed really well, the scenes were nicely balanced and it followed the book pretty well until the end. Yep, the ending is changed. I still prefer the book, but I know how hard it is to adapt a screenplay from a book (I'm in the middle of doing just that). The characters were pretty true to what they were in the book and I think Hanks was a bit more comfortable with the role of Robert Langdon this time. From what I could tell, they seemed to be placing this movie after the Da Vinci Code (that is a change from the book). Overall, a really good movie. I recommend it.

Memorial Day was actually pretty nice. Going to see a movie, working out in my garden, having a great indoor bbq with the family, then the boys wanted me to see the first Transformers movie. I think I bugged them the entire movie considering I had never watched the cartoon series and I had no idea what was going on with some of the characters. I'm still having problems when it comes to figuring out what is going on, but the boys want to see the 2nd Transformer movie when it comes out and they said that I had to see the first in order to figure out what is going on in the second. Luckily enough I've got some time before that actually happens, so I can figure out what is going on. I did enjoy the movie somewhat. There was some humor in it and it was funny to see the Autobots (I think) messing up Sam's father's yard and then the dad thinking it was an earthquake. Some of the characters I didn't like too much, but I think you aren't supposed to like them.

But I'm only an hour into work and I've already had to answer some really stupid questions. There is this one teacher that really shouldn't be teaching with technology. She called me up and told me that her printer wasn't working and there was a flashing light on the top of it. I asked her what the picture was by the light and she said it looked like a piece of paper with the corner folded over. Yeah, the printer stopped working because it was out of paper. Yep. She called me because it was out of paper. She also came in with this camera that a student had dropped and asked me to figure out why it wasn't downloading on to her computer. I plugged it into mine and it worked fine. I took it back up to her and asked her to plug it into her computer and she looked at me funny "I have to plug it in? There isn't anywhere to plug it in." Yep, the reason it wasn't downloading to her computer was because she didn't have it plugged into her computer. Don't ask. Oh, another fun happening this morning: I had delivered all the carts to their places and my room was empty when a teacher came in asking for a computer cart. When I told her that there weren't any available she asked what those carts were in the corner and I told her they were storage. She didn't believe me, marched in and took one of the carts. A few minutes later she brought it back and said that I "could have told her it was filled with cameras". Didn't I just tell her they were storage? Then she went to the "acting-principal" and said that I wasn't being accommodating with her and I was hiding one of the carts so she couldn't use it. Yep, she said that I was hiding one of the carts. How in hellsbells do you hide one of these things! I showed her the schedule and pointed out the times that were available. Ugg, she started almost acting like one of the students she teaches! "I don't want it any other time, I want it now" and when I tell her she isn't getting it now she 'threatens' to go to the "acting-principal". I'm so happy I only have 3 more days until I am free of all this.

That brings me to another weird point. In 3 days I'm going to be out of a job and I can't for the life of me find summer work. No, I will not work food service; I think I have too much education to be working in food service. Yep that may be a bit snobby or egotistical of me but I think I deserve more than 6.75 an hour. We'll see what I can pull out of my hat.
