News from yesterday

Okay, so I had an interesting day yesterday filled with ups and downs, lefts and rights, and a bit of backwardness.

I wasn't hired at the high school even though I am completely qualified for the position and I found out why afterward. I was told that I come off as intimidating in the interview, that I am too sure of myself and some principals tend to shy away from people like that. Surprise you too? Yeah, it surprised me to hear that I come off as intimidating and too strong/too sure of a person. A bit backwards but okay. Also because the districts are in money trouble right now it is cheaper for them to distribute the load among the other teachers and just do an "internship" from a college student. They don't have to pay them as much and the work gets done. Yep, they would rather work with college students than with the professionals who are out in the field right now. What I see happening though is that the quality of education goes down when you do that but the districts don't seem to think like that at the moment; all they seem to see right now is dollar signs.

Anywho, I'm not giving up yet. I'm still trying to find a summer job--which is proving to be difficult--but I should have an interview with another district beginning of June, which hopefully will pan out into something.

On the job front. . . .

I don't have the position at the high school. More to come later.

Yet another one

Since I had finished the one that was sitting at work, I decided to grab another book that has been on my nightstand. I'm just cycling through all those books I've bought. I usually keep one at work, one in my car, and another on my nightstand to pass the time. I've had some free time this morning since depositing the carts, so I've finished this one.

Book 12: The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
This was a honking book at over 800 pages, but it was the last book in a trilogy that I had started last year and it was a fitting end to the trilogy. This is definitely one of those trilogies that you have to read the first 2 books in order to understand what it going on, you won't really figure it out from this book. Reason I'm saying that is that with some trilogies you can just pick up the 3rd book and figure out what was going on with the rest. This one you don't get the full picture unless you read all three books.

It is set during Queen Victoria's rein in England, but it isn't the stuffy style of writing from that time period. You do get the snootiness of the girls and the oppression of that timeframe, but it really is about finding oneself and believing in yourself and that one one has the right to control you. I would recommend the trilogy. They are pretty fast reads with nicely spaced stopping points and chapter markers.

It was a fitting end to the trilogy, with most--if not all--the loose ends tied up, but the author did leave it open ended in case she felt like doing another one or going on a different path with the same characters.

Yay! Another one

So I finished another one

Book 11: Night World 2 by L.J. Smith
Continuation of Night World 1, it touches on some of the same characters, but keeps adding more with different stories. It is in the same format as the first book, three stories that all tie in even though they each follow different main characters. They are fast reads, each story about 200 pages, so you can get though it rather quickly. The stories start to blur together because they are written in the same style, but each tend to capture your attention as you try to find those who were mentioned in the different stories. The fun of it is that while each story is unique, they all tie in with a central story.

Vampires, Witches, Werewolves, ShapeShifters, all that fun stuff all wrapped into one with the not-so-common twists. Fun book and a quick read.

I've started to do something else along with reaching my goal of 50 books by the end of the year. I've started counting pages. I was curious how many pages I could read by the end of the year along with how many books. That hasn't changed what style or length of the books I want to read, I was just curious how many pages exactly I would end up reading. I've put a little counter to the side of the blog so I can keep track. This is turning out to be a fun adventure. I get coupons for books in my e-mail, so I've been stocking up on different types of books as sales come up and I can use my coupon plus the sale; I've been getting a bunch of books for under what their retail price is.

Out with the old

So I hope everyone had a good memorial weekend. I ended up having a bit of a full weekend and didn't really get everything done. I was dreading having to come back to work today because of what happened last friday, but I am here and if I don't have the leave my office I should be okay. Some of the grades are leaving this afternoon, so I should have a relatively quiet afternoon.

As for the weekend, Sunday afternoon my brother and I went to go see Night at the Museum 2 and it didn't live up to what I had thought. I like the first one better. This one was too much of slap-stick style comedy and some parts didn't really make sense. I despised some of the newer characters because they just didn't seem real and give me a break with the monkey subtitles. Yep, they gave the monkeys subtitles when they are talking. There were a few scenes that were in the trailer that didn't make it to the theatrical version and the Vader and Oscar the Grouch parts were really really short.

Then yesterday (monday) the Hubby and I went to go see Angels and Demons. This one was much better. It lived up to the hype (I think). It was filmed really well, the scenes were nicely balanced and it followed the book pretty well until the end. Yep, the ending is changed. I still prefer the book, but I know how hard it is to adapt a screenplay from a book (I'm in the middle of doing just that). The characters were pretty true to what they were in the book and I think Hanks was a bit more comfortable with the role of Robert Langdon this time. From what I could tell, they seemed to be placing this movie after the Da Vinci Code (that is a change from the book). Overall, a really good movie. I recommend it.

Memorial Day was actually pretty nice. Going to see a movie, working out in my garden, having a great indoor bbq with the family, then the boys wanted me to see the first Transformers movie. I think I bugged them the entire movie considering I had never watched the cartoon series and I had no idea what was going on with some of the characters. I'm still having problems when it comes to figuring out what is going on, but the boys want to see the 2nd Transformer movie when it comes out and they said that I had to see the first in order to figure out what is going on in the second. Luckily enough I've got some time before that actually happens, so I can figure out what is going on. I did enjoy the movie somewhat. There was some humor in it and it was funny to see the Autobots (I think) messing up Sam's father's yard and then the dad thinking it was an earthquake. Some of the characters I didn't like too much, but I think you aren't supposed to like them.

But I'm only an hour into work and I've already had to answer some really stupid questions. There is this one teacher that really shouldn't be teaching with technology. She called me up and told me that her printer wasn't working and there was a flashing light on the top of it. I asked her what the picture was by the light and she said it looked like a piece of paper with the corner folded over. Yeah, the printer stopped working because it was out of paper. Yep. She called me because it was out of paper. She also came in with this camera that a student had dropped and asked me to figure out why it wasn't downloading on to her computer. I plugged it into mine and it worked fine. I took it back up to her and asked her to plug it into her computer and she looked at me funny "I have to plug it in? There isn't anywhere to plug it in." Yep, the reason it wasn't downloading to her computer was because she didn't have it plugged into her computer. Don't ask. Oh, another fun happening this morning: I had delivered all the carts to their places and my room was empty when a teacher came in asking for a computer cart. When I told her that there weren't any available she asked what those carts were in the corner and I told her they were storage. She didn't believe me, marched in and took one of the carts. A few minutes later she brought it back and said that I "could have told her it was filled with cameras". Didn't I just tell her they were storage? Then she went to the "acting-principal" and said that I wasn't being accommodating with her and I was hiding one of the carts so she couldn't use it. Yep, she said that I was hiding one of the carts. How in hellsbells do you hide one of these things! I showed her the schedule and pointed out the times that were available. Ugg, she started almost acting like one of the students she teaches! "I don't want it any other time, I want it now" and when I tell her she isn't getting it now she 'threatens' to go to the "acting-principal". I'm so happy I only have 3 more days until I am free of all this.

That brings me to another weird point. In 3 days I'm going to be out of a job and I can't for the life of me find summer work. No, I will not work food service; I think I have too much education to be working in food service. Yep that may be a bit snobby or egotistical of me but I think I deserve more than 6.75 an hour. We'll see what I can pull out of my hat.

There are times . . .

That I hate my job, with a passion! Today is one of those days. (sorry, I need to blow off some steam).

I was doing what I was told by the Technology department from the district. I was told to e-mail the teachers and tell them that they have to have their computers and all accessories turned into me by the end of the 27th so the district could come around and get them on the 28th. That was told to me by my Boss. My actual Boss, not the crappy acting-principal from this school . . . My Boss. The acting-principal hasn't liked me since the first day I showed up because I called her out on what needed to be done on a computer and what she was doing was wrong and would just damage the computer further. I guess I "belittled" her, from her attitude afterwards towards me. She has never had a pleasant demeanor towards me because I don't take what she says. I went through college and have my degree in what I am doing. She doesn't have the right to tell me what can or cannot be done on computers; that a CD in the drive can just be shaken out when it gets stuck; that a dropped computer that is having a flickering screen does not have a problem. She has told me all this and then when I tell the teachers something she goes and asks them what I told them and then says to ignore what I just said. I am getting completely sick of it!! There are times I want to tell her to go to hell because that is where she will get what is coming to her; but I can't and I haven't. I've got to keep this job until I get another one, a better one, so I keep my mouth shut. She is a bitter woman that is jealous because I have a life outside of the school and I don't take crap from her (that is what I tell myself).

She isn't even a full principal. All she is is a "assistant" but she is the acting-principal at the moment because the real principal is out on medical leave. I thought that principals were supposed to work with their faculty and staff to make sure the school runs smoothly. I have been nothing but nice to her. I smile when I pass her in the halls, I answer all her questions even though some are ridiculous, I make sure that the computers are ontime and where they need to be, I work with the teachers to the best of my ability (because sometimes their requests cannot be fulfilled). I feel like this is the same thing that I had to do while I was at BYU, but that I mean be cheerful when I'm not and just ignore the stupidity that is coming towards me from all sides.

It's just so . . . . . ARG!!!!

Sorry about that but I needed to blow off some steam before I left my office and venture out into the halls and my mouth decides to get the better of me. I still feel like I want to break something, but I'll wait until I get home.

Dear Tech Support. . . .

So around the techie office that I had to drop off some computers today were some funny little jokes put up. I asked them where they got it and they told me to search for "Dear Tech Support" and you'll get some fun stuff. Here are a few:

Upgrading To HUSBAND 1.0

Dear Tech Support:

Recently I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed that the new program began making unexpected changes to the accounting software, severely limiting access to wardrobe, flower and jewelry applications that operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the product brochure.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalls many other valuable programs such as DinnerDancing 7.5, CruiseShip 2.3, and OperaNight 6.1 and installs new, undesirable programs such as PokerNight 1.3, Saturday Football 5.0, Golf 2.4 and ClutterEverywhere 4.5. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and invariably crashes the system. Under no circumstances will it run DiaperChanging 14.1or HouseCleaning 2.6. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix Husband 1.0, but this all purpose utility is of only limited effectiveness. Can you help, please!

Sincerely, XXX

Dear XXX:

This is a very common problem women complain about, but it is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 with no idea that Boyfriend 5.0 is merely an ENTERTAINMENT package. However, Husband 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and was designed by its creator to run as few applications as possible.

Further, you cannot purge Husband 1.0 and return to Boyfriend 5.0, because Husband 1.0 is not designed to do this. Hidden operating files within your system would cause Boyfriend 5.0 to emulate Husband 1.0, so nothing is gained.

It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or purge the program files from the system, once installed. Any new program files can only be installed once per year, as Husband 1.0 has severely limited memory. Error messages are common, and a normal part of Husband 1.0.

In desperation to play some of their "old time" favorite applications, or to get new applications to work, some women have tried to install Boyfriend 6.0, or Husband 2.0. However, these women end up with more problems than encountered with Husband 1.0.

Look in your manual under "Warnings: Divorce/Child Support." You will notice that this program runs very poorly, and comes bundled with HeartBreak 1.3. I recommend you keep Husband 1.0, and just learn the quirks of this strange and illogical system.

Having Husband 1.0 installed myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults [GPFs]. This is a wonderful feature of Husband 1.0, secretly installed by the parent company as an integral part of the operating system.

Husband 1.0 must assume ALL responsibility for ALL faults and problems, regardless of root cause. To activate this great feature enter the command "C: I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME".

Sometimes Tears 6.2 must be run simultaneously while entering the command. Husband 1.0 should then run the applications Apologize 12.3 and Flowers/Chocolates 7.8.

TECH TIP! Avoid excessive use of this feature. Overuse can create additional and more serious GPFs, and ultimately YOU may have to give a C: I APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal operations. Overuse can also cause Husband 1.0 to default to GrumpySilence 2.5, or worse yet, to Beer 6.0.

Beer 6.0 is a very bad program that causes Husband 1.0 to create FatBelly files and Snoring Loudly wave files that are very hard to delete. Save yourself some trouble by following this tech tip!

Just remember! The system will run smoothly, and take the blame for all GPFs, but because of this fine feature it can only intermittently run all the applications Boyfriend 5.0 ran. Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly.

Consider buying additional software to improve performance. I personally recommend HotFood 3.0, Lingerie 5.3 and Patience 10.1. Used in conjunction, these utilities can really help keep Husband 1.0 running smoothly.

After several years of use, Husband 1.0 will become familiar and you will find many valuable embedded features such as FixBrokenThings 2.1, Snuggling 4.2 and BestFriend 7.6.

A final word of caution! Do NOT, under any circumstances, install MotherInLaw 1.0. This is not a supported application, and will cause selective shutdown of the operating system. Husband 1.0 will run only Fishing 9.4 and Hunting 5.2 until MotherInLaw 1.0 is uninstalled.

I hope these notes have helped. Thank you for choosing to install Husband 1.0 and we here at Tech Support wish you the best of luck in coming years. We trust you will learn to fully enjoy this product!

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 . I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources.

In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activities, such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Going To The Pub 7.5, and Softball 3.6

I can’t seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my other favorite applications. I’m thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0 , but the uninstall doesn’t work on Wife 1.0 .

Please help!

Thanks,

Troubled User…..

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that men often complain about.

Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING !!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0 . It is impossible to uninstall, or purge, the program files from the system once installed.

You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings: Alimony-Child Support . I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the background application Yes Dear 2.7 to alleviate your program problems.

The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE! because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance! Wife 1.0 does come with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0 , Cook It 1.5 , and Do Bills 4.2 ..

However, be very careful how you use these programs . Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5 Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 .

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3 . This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system!
Best of luck,
Tech Support

Enjoy.

What is in a name?

It has been a bit over two years now that I've been married and I got asked this question a few times today: "Why haven't I changed my name?" And I answered the first and second ones with "I did. I hyphened it." And then the last time I was asked that I said "Why should I?" and the person looked at me like I had just said something illegal or something. "But you have to!" that person said and I handed over my computer and opened the internet and said "Show me where it says I have to." Let me say this, that person looked like they had just stepped in something sticky.

Why do women feel like they need to change their name after they get married? Isn't the name that they were raised with and lived with for the past X years alright? I'm not knocking it, but I think it should be more of a personal choice than something that has to be done . . . and as far as I understand the law, no where does it say that you have to change your name when you get married. I've just been getting a lot of flack lately because I chose to keep my last name and just tack on Jakob's. He's more than welcome to do the same. I also think that some women just tend to disappear when they take away their "old" name completely.

A friend of mine just got married and they decided that he was going to change his name to her last name and move his original last name to his middle name. I thought that was cool when they asked my opinion and more over, they had discussed it and came up with it together. Now, his mother threw a fit when he told her what they were going to do and said that that isn't the way things are done. Why should it be any of her business what he does with his name? Why is it anyone else's business what married couples decide to do with the name change?

Legally, I haven't changed any documents or names and when I went to the DMV to get my license renewed, I tried to have them hyphen my name but the person said "Hyphens aren't allowed". Huh? Since when are hyphens not allowed?

It's just something that I finally decided to take a look at. Tradition. That is all it is. Tradition. I'm not knocking it. If it is right for you then go right ahead just don't tell me that I "have to" because you did it.

This is on my recommendations list

I finished another book in about 2 days. I couldn't put it down.

Book 10: My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
From the back of the book: Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never questioned… until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister - and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable… a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves. My Sister's Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life… even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less?

I really enjoyed this book, hence why I couldn't put it down. It was a little hard to get into considering she writes from different character's perspectives, but once you figure out how to handle it, it really is fun to read. You get the different characters and how they handle the current situation. It isn't like you get it from one character and then the same thing from a different view point, but the story continues and flows from one character to another. The story is really compelling and it deals with some issues that are current issues and controversial issues. Midway through the book you don't know if you want to smack the mom or throttle the son or have your jaw dropped by the father, but the ending . . . I'm not going to give that away.

There is a tiny bit of language/sexuality but it is really really minimal, nothing graphic.

I totally recommend this to other readers.

Hmmm

So last weekend my brother, Jakob and I went to go see Star Trek. I wasn't too thrilled to go see it because from the clips I could find, it just didn't appeal to me. Also, I have an issue with "prequel" movies: they look more 'futuristic' than the originals. And yes, this movie did just that. It looked more futuristic than the original Star Trek series. I did like the fact that Checkov, Scotty, and Sulu both had the right accents and closely resembled the original actors and their mannerisms. The guy they got to play Kirk didn't have the "Shatner Drawl" or the "Kirk Drawl" as I've heard it said; "to. . . boldly go where. . . no man. . . .has gone. . . before" with all the breaking of speech. I did enjoy seeing Leonard Nimoy again. There were some funny parts in the movie and that is what made it enjoyable. And the fact that they put the original music and the "saying" at the end of the movie instead of the beginning and had Nimoy say it was a semi-classy move.

Anyway, I was really excited to see the trailer at the beginning of the movie for this, and the little cameo at the end of the trailer:

Darth Vader and Oscar the Grouch in the same movie! Yay!

One more picture

Okay, like I said a few posts ago, there aren't a lot of pictures I like from my wedding. Most were poorly taken and I'm just not photogenic anyway. But here is another of my favorites.

Yep, the boys had tail tuxes with lightsabers on their belts during the whole ceremony. Gotta love that.

Oh the joys of working in a school

Ugg, there are times that I really don't like working in a school. I try to keep myself as clean as I can, that goes for my computers as well, but not every kid has that same plan.

Over last weekend I wasn't feeling all that great. I really just wanted to stay at home and not do anything but I couldn't because of all the testing that was going on here at the school. So I had to go to school, but I think that whatever I had caught was really light and most of what I was feeling was allergies to the spring plants that are now starting to bloom--that and a bit of time that I spent out in the rain last Saturday. Anywho, now Jakob is at home feeling miserable and I feel miserable because I think I am the one that passed the illness on to him. Luckily enough his work had sent out an e-mail to everyone to stay home and not chance it if they were feeling ill; and he has a few days of sick hours to use, so at least we're okay with that. But I still feel sorry that I am the one that gave it to him and he still has to do a show tomorrow night.

But at least he is getting a lot of rest. Luv ya hun.

Another one down, a few dozen more to go.

Book 9: A Child Called It by David Pelzer
I've read bits and pieces of this book, but never the whole thing and I needed a pick-me-up after reading it. It is interesting that he's willing to share what happened in his life and if you are to believe everything that he says, there are some atrocities that have happened. Parts of this book will make your stomach turn and if you've ever worked with kids and you've seen kids like him, then it will make your stomach turn even more.

This book made me believe more firmly that certain people should not be allowed to breed. If you've ever listened to Bill Engvall's bits "Here's your sign", you'll understand partially, but I still believe that certain people should not be allowed to have children.

Pelzer has written other books continuing his story, but I don't think I want to read those just yet. Yes, the way that it is written is very compelling and first person, but with all the junk going on in the world, this is something I don't want to read at the moment. Also, when actually stopping and thinking about it, it seems more like sensationalistic writing than anything. Why did he decide to make it into three books when he could have changed the font size to a smaller one and written everything in one book. It also makes you feel like you are just being taken. He doesn't want to change anything, it feels more like "here's my story now give me your money if you want to hear any more".

Happy Anniversary

2 years ago, May 4th was something of a blur. It was the day that I was going to be married. Getting up was somewhat of an ordeal. I didn't want to wake up. I just didn't want to roll out of bed. I've never been one for girlie things like the beauty salon or getting my hair/nails done but that day I had to. I didn't want to, but I had to, and that meant getting up earlier than I would have liked.

After getting the hair and nails done and grabbing something else to eat I had to go home and finish putting the garnet stones on my dress. See, I couldn't have just some ordinary dress; I had to have something that was me--and that had color on it--so my mom and I ended up creating our own. It was a long process but we finished it that afternoon. My mother made me go take a nap. I love naps, but I don't love it when my hair smells of hairspray and products, and that it did. I also sent Matt (Jakob's best man) some text messages making sure he was taking care of Jakob since I couldn't talk to him. No, it wasn't that I was superstitious, I wanted to bring some tradition in and not talking or seeing each other was part of that. I hadn't even seen him the day before.

But luckily enough I had a great set of bridesmaids and he had a great set of groomsmen so we were all set. Since we were having the ceremony and the wedding back to back, it was nice to get to the house and set everything out and know that if I needed a break or needed something it was just upstairs. Then a quick walk-though and time to get dressed, sign the license, walk down those stairs and get hitched.

Two of my favorite pictures (and their aren't many) of the wedding is this one with my dad and the one below it with both my parents. When my dad walked me down the isle and gave me away, he almost started crying. I hadn't cried yet (I'm not much of a crier) and I wasn't about to lose it there so I made a little joke of "If you or mom lose it, I'm going to start too, so don't lose it!" He chuckled and then sat next to my mom. I was facing them and for the longest of time I couldn't look at them because I could hear both of them sniffling and I didn't want to lose it. Luckily enough they didn't and I didn't so there are no crying pictures. I'm not much of a crier but if my parents lose it, I'm sure that I will lose it too.

Anywho, we had a great ceremony then my wedding planner (who is also the owner of the reception house) said that we had to line up for a reception line. I HATE those things with a passion, but since I would only do it after the ceremony and not during the actual reception, I did it. But we got these fun shots of my line. I made a good choice with those who were in our wedding party. Those are some close friends and people who can play around with us.

But the reception was a blast with lots of food and some dancing near the end. No, we didn't shove cake in each others faces. I think that is incredibly tacky. There were some interesting things that happened at the reception though:
~A friend of ours had surgery the day before and still came to our reception! I love that family!
~My Marine friend scheduled his leave around our reception and made it in full dress uniform.
~Someone brought their computer to the reception and instead of enjoying everything, sat in the corner with the computer on their lap.
~We had "drunken" groomsmen.

~I met too many people that I have no idea who they are . . . and still don't know who they are.
~A few of my old dancing teammates came up who I hadn't seen in a while.
~We had great food . . . and the wedding cake ended up giving Jakob food poisoning

There are so many other things that happened . . . some that I can mention but may get in trouble for mentioning so I won't and some that I can't mention but want to soo badly but won't.

It has been 2 years since that day and much has happened. I graduated, Jakob started school back up to get his license, we're both working on getting our debts paid down and are on a good track for doing that, we've made a plan of priorities and we're sticking to them, I'm on track for getting a full-time teaching job, and we are still enjoying life.

Luv ya a bunch hun! Happy 2nd Anniversary.

May Day!

No, nothing is sinking and I'm not in any trouble, it's just today is Beltane! Yay!

Today is May Day. There is a little bit of history for you. I so want to do a maypole, but I didn't have time to create one, so I may just do some greenery and light a fire. I have been having fun playing around with people. I've been wearing my pentagram/pentacle pendant and the looks I've received have been priceless! They look at me like I'm the devil or something. If they were actually well informed they would know what a pentagram and an inverse pentagram actually are and the differences they symbolize. Eh, I live in Utah.

I am happy with the weather though. It is cooling down a bit (not that its been too hot around here yet, its just that the weather has been kind of a roller-coaster) and the wind is nice.

On the job front, things have been moving slowly. I've had a few prospects, but nothing has panned out so far. It is still up in the air whether or not I will be back here in August and I'm hoping that they come to a decision soon. It is hard not knowing if I should be looking elsewhere or if that is just hurting my chances at staying. A friend of mine just told me that she was let go from her current job because she was scanning for other jobs while the decision was being made. Her boss actually told her that if she was looking around she wasn't what they wanted in an employee . . . and she's been working there for the past 5 or 6 years! Eh, I guess I just need to be careful.

Anywho, back to the grind of things.
