Okay, so I had an interesting day yesterday filled with ups and downs, lefts and rights, and a bit of backwardness.
I wasn't hired at the high school even though I am completely qualified for the position and I found out why afterward. I was told that I come off as intimidating in the interview, that I am too sure of myself and some principals tend to shy away from people like that. Surprise you too? Yeah, it surprised me to hear that I come off as intimidating and too strong/too sure of a person. A bit backwards but okay. Also because the districts are in money trouble right now it is cheaper for them to distribute the load among the other teachers and just do an "internship" from a college student. They don't have to pay them as much and the work gets done. Yep, they would rather work with college students than with the professionals who are out in the field right now. What I see happening though is that the quality of education goes down when you do that but the districts don't seem to think like that at the moment; all they seem to see right now is dollar signs.
Anywho, I'm not giving up yet. I'm still trying to find a summer job--which is proving to be difficult--but I should have an interview with another district beginning of June, which hopefully will pan out into something.

I'm sorry to hear that this didn't work out for you. I hope something will come through for you soon.
I don't know that you're intimidating, but if you don't mind some honesty, you are pretty forward and no-nonsense. I'm the same way, and I don't consider it a bad thing. I wish there were more people like that.
Stupid economy. Good luck with that other district.
Good luck!
