Wacky Wind

Okay, so yesterday we started having some really weird microburst winds. It was enough to break our mailbox (and a few others in the neighborhood). Plus we learned a couple of things about the house:
1-The sliding door's glass is loose and lets water. It isn't from the track, it is actually from under the glass, not the frame.
2-The gate is busted. There was a really big gust of wind that pulled the gate out and then slammed it back on it's hook, bending the hook and making it so the gate doesn't latch anymore. Hopefully we can bend it back so it latches again. I really don't want to have to buy a new latch
3-The back fence is busting again. When the wind was blowing yesterday we saw the fence began to come apart. It hasn't fallen over yet, but we'll have to fix that soon.

There wasn't any damage to the house that I could see, but I'll take a look when I get home today and there is actual daylight outside. But there were a few mailboxes down, plus the stop sign on the corner, there are leaves everywhere! (and I spent a few hours raking mine up before the snow showed up, now they are everywhere again!). So it'll be interesting when I go home. I've got to make a run to the home supply store to pick up some cement or something strong to remake the mailbox post. Sadie and Jimmy also didn't know what to make of the storm. Jimmy was really nervous about the wind and all the leaves that were swishing around outside. Sadie just stayed under the table and watched through the bars on the chair.

But other than that, yesterday was an enjoyable day. I had a late lunch with my mom which is always nice, then later in the evening Liz came down to have dinner with us and a stage combat lesson with Jakob. Sadie and Jimmy were entranced for a while with the fact that the living room was completely messed up and they could now play with the edges of the rug. They also wanted to be in the middle of everything and everyone while Liz and Jakob were fighting. Sadie also got really curious about what the swishing-pointy-thing was that Jakob had so when they were resting for a minute she ventured over and wanted to check it out.

This weekend should be a peaceful one for me. I really don't have anywhere to go except for Saturday night. Jakob has an audition up in West Valley saturday morning, but after that it should be nice. Hopefully I can get a little sewing done and some more organizing of lesson plans.

Good that you found out about the things that need to be fixed before the damage became severe!!
