Projects

It seems that since the year started I have gone from one project to another not really finishing anything in-between. I've got a project of 40 pillow pieces, I've got another project of 5 pieces to put on the wall, another project of finishing deboxing the garage, another of putting lesson plans into format and into cases . . . and on and on and on. I've got the new semester coming next week and I'm not really looking forward to that. The school may be buying out my prep period because they have more students needing to take the class then they have room to put them in and I've got a free period that I said I would be willing to take. In a way I am looking forward to the next semester. It is a new group of students. I have 1 semester under my belt to "play" off of and learn from. It means extra money coming my way. I won't have a prep period my even days, but at least the other classes will be smaller. I really don't mind the extra grading since I know what I'm looking for, I tend to breeze right through it. Many teachers that I've talked to don't like the grading aspect. I tend to like it. It shows me how well I am teaching and if the students are getting anything out of my class.

But Jakob did finish a big milestone--one that has taken him the past year to complete. He has been writing a screenplay and he finished it last week. Yay him! It ended up being about 170 pages in its rough draft form. When you take into consideration that 1 page of script usually makes 1 minute of film, this is a long film. But there are some things that need to be fixed and the script really isn't finished until the film is finished. You end up making fixes as you go. I think it will end up getting shorter. But I am proud of him for actually getting the story down in written format. Now, on to editing!

But at least Sadie and Jimmy seem to be adapting well. They still seem like they are trying to kill each other at times, but I think it is beginning to work out. They have their little corners that they like to go to, but at least they've stopped running away from us all the time. Jimmy sometimes greets us at the door when we come home. It is rather cute. Sadie is still a bit illusive, but she's a sweetheart. They've really gotten down their morning routine and they think that every time we go downstairs we are going into their room so they follow us.

all right Jakob! Give him a congrats from me, it's always awesome to get a first draft of a story/screenplay item thing done! And it may be just me, but I find revising stories one of the funnest things ever after writing them. :D

And I'm glad Sadie and Jimmy are adapting, silly kitties. Have fun with new semester, good luck with them students, eh!
