So for the past few days it has been "spring" break for the school district so I didn't really feel like picking up my computer if I didn't have to . . . so I didn't. I didn't believe it was spring break when I woke up wednesday morning. There was about a foot of snow that had fell overnight. Yep, snow on April 15th. That made for a wonderful tax day for those who didn't get them in fast enough or for the protesters outside the capital building in SLC. I ended up staying inside and just working on a few projects that I had laying around. I didn't even want to step outside. It didn't feel like April to me. Then by the end of the day, most of the snow had melted and by thursday you wouldn't have known that we had a snowstorm in the valley by the looks of things. There was a lot of damage throughout the valley because of the storm. The trees just weren't able to hold something like that. The plum tree in my parent's backyard lost a couple of huge branches because of the weight of the snow, and a lot of the flowers were smashed flat. The squirrels in the BBQ are doing fine though. Once the weather levels out we're going to leave the door to the BBQ open so Mama Squirrel can move her pups, otherwise she'll make that her permanent residence.
But it was nice to be able to just relax and do what I wanted to do, not what I had to do. I'm beginning to make some animal neckpillows in hopes that I can sell them. They are cute and the Hubby has been playing with my prototypes all weekend. He likes them and say they are comfortable and could be pretty useful in car trips. Once my menagerie is a bit more diverse I'll post some pictures. I've also started making little "monster" plushies. They are small, but they have some character to them. Plus I'm starting work on some Regency-era dresses. My mom has become entranced with some of the movies of that time period (yes, she is becoming a Janeite. **shudders just thinking about that. ick**) But costuming is costuming to me and I think I may be able to make some money off of those dresses as well.
The Hubby is in another show which opens in May. He's doing a live murder mystery at Wiseguys in Orem. When he got the part he looked at it and said something along the lines of "I'll just play myself". He got the part of the sci-fi junkie. How appropriate huh?
Well, here starts the grind of another week, and it is start of testing month within the school district so I have to make sure that the computers are ready to go. Not looking forward to that. Eh, we'll see how it goes. Luckily enough I may be getting paid overtime because I have to be here earlier in the morning than I usually have to be and I have to stay all day. I'm hording all the work time that I can because they still aren't sure whether or not the tech assistants will have their job next year.
It is so hard to find a job right now. I was looking over the weekend to see if I could find a part-time job to help supplement my income for the time being, but I refuse to work food service (too much work and headache for little pay), so that is limiting my choices. I guess I'll just have to continue my search. Maybe I'll try home transcription or something. My typing is fast and I have access to a computer, but terminology isn't my strong point. Eh, I'll just have to keep on trucking.
