We went to go see Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D with my younger brother Saturday afternoon. I'm not a fan of 3D movies because my eyes tend to hurt by the time the film is finished, but this film was actually kind of fun to watch. It was stupid and completely predictable, but fun. There were a lot of other movie references in it, plus sound effects from other movies too. I think my favorite character was Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., he is like McGyver, only shorter and "can't be destroyed" because cockroaches don't seem to die. Then we went to Iceberg to get some ice cream shakes. Jakob and I split the mini one and that still was enough to fill both of us up. Their mini shakes aren't so mini. We then hit the Disney Store (which I am so happy they brought back!) and I found Tramp! I bought the Lady stuffed animal a long time ago and I have been searching for Tramp for ages! Well, Jakob picked him up and said "He's the only one" and I totally spent some money (well, more like gift certificates that were actually expired but the lady took them anyway). I now have Lady and the Tramp. Now if they would only make a Jock scottie plushie and a Trusty blood hound plushie I'd be set! But it was a good way to spend an afternoon.
Sunday was good. I slept in and then when Jakob went to go visit his brothers and family in the afternoon I went shopping and browsing. It was nice to see no one on the streets and very few people in the mall. I liked having things to myself. Then in the evening I went to my parents place to eat and see my mom. She'd been in Florida for a week and had a nice tan.
But I was able to finish another book! This one was a free ebook, so I spend a while with my eyes in front of my computer.

Book 8: Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne
From the back of the book: An eccentric geology professor acquires an old book and hidden within its pages finds an ancient parchment. On it is a coded message that reveals directions to a secret passageway that leads deep within the earth's interior. The professor immediately sets off on a daring journey to Iceland where he and his companions enter into an extinct volcano and make their way to the center of the earth. Here they find a strange underground world where the laws of science are turned upside down. They discover huge caverns, luminous rocks, a subterranean sea, primitive forests, and fearsome prehistoric creatures. The travelers encounter one stirring adventure after another as they explore deep within the bowels of the earth.
I really liked this one. It is written in an older style of english, but it is plain english and easy to breeze through. It keeps you interested and even though you already know the storyline, Jules Verne keeps you going.
Well written, I would recommend this to most people. It really is quite a fast read. Some of the Icelandic names are a bit difficult to pronounce, but that is half the fun.
