Earth Day 2009

Happy Earth Day everyone! Here is a great site to help get to know what exactly Earth Day is and what you can do to help.

The one ironic thing that I find about celebrating Earth Day on only one day is that yes, while one day does make a difference, it doesn't make as much of a difference as if you would treat the Earth like everyday day was Earth Day.

On the site that I linked above there is a ecological footprint quiz. It is interactive and gives you a quick understanding of how you live and how it affects the world. Here are my quiz results:


So if everyone lived like me, we would need 3.8 Earths to sustain everyone. Kind of puts things into a little perspective. Believe me, I do a lot to help curb my ecological footprint. I do recycle when and what I can, I try to use my reusable shopping bags (but if I don't keep them in my car, I sometimes forget about them), and when I can, I walk to places.

Well, happy Earth Awareness Day! We've got sun here so I will probably be weeding my garden before the rain arrives this weekend.
