Book 5: Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher
It was a really fun and fast read. It reads like she is just sitting there talking and you've been able to listen in on all the conversation. If you aren't a fan of a little language in books, then this probably isn't a book you'd like to read. But if you'd like to know some little tidbits that only an "insider" can tell you, then this memoir is going to take you there.
It is based off her autobiographical comedy routine which is her attempt to regather her memories after reclaiming her life through electroshock therapy. . . which is actually called electroconvulsive therapy. Although most people don't think it is still around, apparently it is and they still prescribe it for some mental disorders.
Carrie is very open with her life and the fact that she has a mental disorder. She goes into how she self-mediated with drugs and alcohol, all the ups and downs with her "hollywood sweetheart" parents, her marriages, George Lucas, and her daughter.
All in all the memoir pulls you along with all the details. And it is fun to see that she has her bipolar disorder starting to be under control and her teenage daughter is well-adjusted. Also, her mother lives next door to her in LA. How funny is that?!
