So after rifling through some music I had on my hard drive I found my Savage Garden stuff. I've been looking for that for ages. It is now on my MP3 player. Savage Garden has this song called "Affirmation" and I really like the lyrics. I even agree with most of the lyrics. Take a look:
I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold
I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I really like some of that stuff. If you take a look, it really is like that.
But getting to another topic, I guess with some of the stuff that has been happening lately with my life, I've started having these questions as to why people do the things they do. Human nature is just too strange. Why do people feel the need to dance around a subject instead of just getting to the heart of the matter? Why do people feel the need to sugarcoat things just to make sure they don't step on other people's toes? Why do some tell you what they think of you behind your back but would never say that to your face? I understand that gossipers gossip to make themselves feel more important, but why is there a need to gossip in the first place? Some say the truth hurts, but if it is the truth, why should it hurt?
Those who know me know that I am a no-nonsense type of person. If it needs to be said, I'll say it. If it needs to be done and everyone else is just talking about it, I'll go and do it. I do not like backhanded dealings, nor do I like people talking about me behind my back. If you've got something to say, please say it. I believe I am adult enough to talk with you and have a discussion where we don't see eye-to-eye, yet not let things get to the point that it destroys any relationship that we have. I do see now that the attitude that people had in high school doesn't seem to go away. Working with high schoolers on a daily basis has just put another tick on that tally board. For many people, something happens in their life that allows them to grow up and see what is going on. I wish something like that could happen to everyone. No, I'm not wishing for something bad for everyone, I'm just wishing for an eye-opening experience for them.
