Nothing Noteworthy

So believe it or not, things haven't really slowed down that much, but there isn't too much to actually post about.

I survived another track season. I didn't coach anyone this year, so just working in the pressbox for 3 meets was enough for me. We were able to find a couple other people who were able to do some of the job that I did last year since I was training someone the entire time to run the board. She's the wife of one of the meet directors and while she has some graphics background, the computer system we use and working with video is new to her; so many times it was repeating myself a lot. The one thing that drove me nuts about this year was the fact that I only had Jakob and Z to help me on video. They couldn't find anyone who was willing to work the video portion. We did have a couple of girls who helped during the state meet because I begged and pleaded for someone so I didn't have to be running up and down stairs (although I really need to) and could concentrate on what's actually on the board. And I'm happy that they were able to figure out what was needed--with Jakob's guidance. They were out in the rain the entire day (it was off and on rain all day) and I was able to stay 'healthy' in the pressbox--too much chocolate available.

But we did have a couple of film shoots on weekends. While I'm not a fan of the script, they asked Jakob to show up in his western stuff and since they were friends of Jakob, he decided that he was going to do it and since I didn't have that much time to spend with him earlier, I went with him. I really need to stay away from some amateur film shoots. . . they are beginning to drive me nuts! Very few are actually planned well and don't waste too much time. This one did. Yeesh, talk about wasted time. The only time I felt it was productive was when I took over for 1.5 hours on another location. I think we filmed more in that little bit than they had all day. And I didn't have a shot list or anything. I just knew the story that we wanted to tell with the scene and went from there.

The first day on set. I didn't anything from the outdoor shoot---I was too pissed off at the waste of time to pull out my camera. Maybe I'll be able to pull some stills from the "finished" product.

The school year is almost over! Wahoo! I am very excited about this. While I'm happy that I have a job that isn't that bad--and the fact that I get a few months of "vacation", I'm beginning to think about what I actually want to do. I'm not sure if I want to do this teacher thing much longer. Things are completely changing--and not for the good. We are getting more restricted with what we can do and how things are going to go from here. If you're really interested in learning more, I'll be updating my Teaching Blog (link is on the upper right) and you can keep up there with it all.

Life is just moving along. I've got a few remodel ideas for this summer, we'll see if it actually pans out. There is an idea for the loft, the master bedroom, and the yard. I'm not sure which will actually happen or what we're doing first. I guess it all depends on what we can find at a good price and how much help I'll actually end up having.

The jewelry stuff is going. . . well, it's going. We had an issue photographing the jewelry, so nothing is up on the website. Which is sad, but until I can figure out how to photograph everything so the colors come though or things actually look nice and not just "dead", nothing will happen. I'm playing the designs still and I like the ability to create something for friends or for my costumes/outfits that work well with everything.

Sounds like with the jewelry, it's a matter of lighting, and not just one light, but you'd need several different kinds of light. You probably already know that. :)
