Clogging

For about 20+ years, clogging was always a part of my life (maybe I'll add on a few awkward pictures of me clogging later). It was seriously what I did and while I complained about it for a while, it was totally worth it. Now that it's been out of my life for a while (since I graduated college), I can now see how much it really meant to me and what it did for me. Yes, aches and pains were always part of any dancing stuff, but I haven't danced since 2008 (well, at least not constantly).

Last summer I had the opportunity to participate in the Springville Folk Festival (I blogged about it here) and I found myself smiling again. Since then I've been wanting to do more with dance but finding adult classes around here is actually pretty hard. They are either complete beginning classes (which I wouldn't mind brushing up on) or they are closed off teams and since I haven't actively been doing stuff, I don't get an audition.Kind of sad to think about it.

But that is all going to change soon. Back in October/November a friend of mine who I had danced with for years, started his own clogging studio (something I've wanted to do for a long time but I've been too chicken to take the chance). He had toyed around with having an adult's class and I jumped at it. Even if it was just to start over with technique or help out, I wanted in. When I told him that, he said something along the lines of "you could even teach that" and that seriously got me smiling. That evening, I couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of getting back into clogging. I pulled my shoes, looked them over and put them back on. Wow. I seriously had an emotional moment. Really, who thought shoes could do that to you.

So, starting next week, I'll be clogging at least 1 night a week with a good friend. Hopefully that'll lead to more opportunities. No, I'm not exactly getting back into the competition stage just yet, but maybe--just maybe--that is what it'll lead to.

Oh my gosh! This is exciting!!! We all need something we're that passionate about. It obviously means a lot to you, so I'm happy you'll be getting back into it. :)

How wonderful! I love you watching you dance. It's like you are flying on the floor... seriously. I would take a class from you any time (so long as you didn't mind my utter haplessness).

That's awesome! It's great to have something that we enjoy doing that much. Have fun!
