Student Teaching

Okay, so I'm really ready for this to be finished up with. I am tired of working with kids that are just really really slow. You can't tell them to do something because you'll get 20 kids asking "what? I don't get it." I'll give an example. So I was teaching a TLC (meaning 7th graders) about transportation. All they had to do was cut out a car and glue it together. I was going along with them step by step. After I would say "are there any questions?" they would say no and start working. Sure enough, just a few moments later, one of the kids would say "I don't get what we're doing" and just sit there instead of asking for help. It drives me insane! What should have taken about 15 minutes, ended up taking 1 hour. Just to cut and glue together a few tabs!

Arg, I'm just not cut out for the Junior High setting. If I wanted to work with kids who want to be spoon fed everything, I would have signed up for Elementary Ed. No, I signed up for Secondary Education thinking that I would be able to do a bit more expansive projects and be able to teach, instead I am doing arts and crafts with the kids going step-by-step. I am not their babysitter!

ARG!
